Occupational Therapist Acute care PRN

As an Occupational Therapist – pro re nata (PRN) Weekend, you will select evaluation and treatment methods that are appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and physical/emotional status of patients in addition to formulating appropriate treatment plans. To help achieve our mission, you will adhere to department policies regarding timeframe, form and content of written evaluations, progress notes and discharge summaries. 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients' responses to treatment, actual performance and an assessment as to their status, relevant to the treatment plan, and eventual discharge needs and treatment summaries if needed. Formulates comprehensive treatment plans to improve functional status of patients and addresses reasons for referrals. Completes discharge notes that include a summary of the course of treatment, progress toward goals, discharge needs, recommendations for follow-up and patient and/or family education. Documents clearly, concisely and legibly within established time frames (e.g. allows other therapists to continue treatment, allows for interpretation by payers, supports reimbursement). Contacts families, physicians or other healthcare team members in anticipation of specials needs for patients/families in a timely manner to facilitate effective treatment plans. Provides educational materials and methods appropriate to patients' levels of understanding and motivation. Gives appropriate instruction and supervision to assistive personnel consistent with program/clinic policy and regulatory requirements. Applies knowledge of therapeutic techniques during the evaluation and throughout the course of treatment while adjusting the treatment plan regularly/appropriately as patients status change. Develops goals and treatment plans that reflect the evaluation findings and are prioritized based on input from patients, families and team members.



Requirements:

New graduate Occupational Therapy eligible. One year of experience in acute care preferred.

Education:

Bachelor of Science, Occupational Therapy. Master’s Degree Preferred 

Certification:

BLS certified through the American Heart Association.

Licensure:

Virginia License required upon start
