Morgan & Morgan is seeking a Controller to join our dynamic team. As a leading law firm specializing in personal injury and consumer protection cases, we are committed to excellence in client service and operational efficiency. The Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial health of our Complex Litigation, Disability Advocates, Veteran Affairs, and other smaller divisions. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of financial leadership, exceptional analytical skills, and a strong understanding of accounting principles within a professional services environment.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning processes. Monitor key financial metrics, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to support business decisions.

Accounting Operations:

Oversee day-to-day case accounting and financial reporting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger. Ensure timely and accurate processing of client/vendor payments, employee reimbursements, and client cost billings. Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial transactions.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

Conduct variance analysis and prepare detailed financial reports for management review. Develop financial models, forecasts, and projections to support business planning and growth initiatives. Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and presentations for executive leadership. Team Leadership and Development: Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Provide guidance and training on accounting principles, software tools, and best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and optimize efficiency.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred, but not required. Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge of financial reporting and accounting best practices. Net Suite experience is a plus Salesforce experience is a plus Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and trends. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior-level Attorneys, Regional Controllers, the Corporate Director of Accounting, and the firm’s Chief Financial Officer Demonstrated leadership abilities, including team building, coaching, and strategic thinking. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
