Responsible for effecting ongoing quality, productivity, and efficiency in the department. Supports and assists the department leadership in the day-to-day operation of the department from assigning appropriate staff and overseeing the patient access processes. Supports staff as needed.

 

Also responsible for the timely and accurate recording of patient demographics, insurance information, patient charges and collections and scheduling patient appointments in a timely and accurate manner. Cross-training required in multiple administrative support functions.

Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Associates Degree in business or related field, preferred.Experience: Minimum 1 years experience in patient access, registration, billing, cash collections, insurance, or related experience in a medical environment. Experience with patient placement, financial counseling, Main Admitting, Emergency Department; preferred.1 year experience - Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific competency assessment, preferred.Licensure/Certification: Novant Health revenue cycle university program completed, preferred. Related leadership level professional organization certification including but not limited to NAHAM CHAM, preferred.Additional skills required: Insurance, billing and related regulatory/governing standards, policies, and procedures; ability to use Microsoft Office, registration software, and various other computer applications; application of safety and infection control policies and procedures; ability to develop learning plans, give and receive feedback, and coach and counsel staff; staffing, scheduling; customer feedback and impact on core processes; delegation, team building, decision making, conflict management, change management skills; verbal and written communication skills that are sensitive to diversities among age groups, cultures, and educational levels. Ability to drive/travel to multiple locations/facilities as needed. Ability to lead a group and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures. Scheduling and organization of assigned shift.
