The Samsung North America Shared Service Center Payroll Team is a dynamic, high-energy team providing top-tier payroll management to companies who Own the Unknown! As a Payroll Service Manager, you will lead a team of 1-2 Payroll Analysts in delivering a high quality payroll experience to our North America companies. One of your key objectives in supporting our high volume processing is to improve accuracy and increase efficiency. In this role, we challenge you to bring your best on a daily basis and welcome your ideas for how to do things differently and better. You will use your well-rounded problem solving skills to creatively address workforce payment questions and collaborate with Samsung teams to foster an environment in which continuous improvement is the standard.

In pursuit of success, the NA SSC Payroll Team works cross-functionally with internal partners including Human Resources, HRIS and Benefits to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and related transactions.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for overseeing Biweekly, Monthly payroll and off-cycle runs accuracy and completenessResearch market best practices to identify applicability within the process of their supported subsidiaryEstablish a benchmark payroll process for the supported subsidiary via a consultative approach.Be an agent of change for the supported subsidiary and ascertain the establishment and execution of the subsidiary best practice policiesLead, develop and mentor a team of 1-2 payroll professionals to achieve consistent results in an increasingly complex environmentResearch Root Cause analysis for any presented issues to understand and rectify any recurring ones, striving for 100% accuracyOwn accountability for day-to-day management of payroll service team activities including but not limited to: scheduled and off cycle process completion, consistent application of payroll controls and audit processes, service level agreements, and auditing of data sets between various payroll source systemsEffectively manage relationships within defined SLAs while providing on-going research, resolution, product support and a superior customer experience to workers, HR, accounting, retirement program and benefits administrators, as well as payroll and timekeeping vendorsProduce measurable results in a collaborative team environment as well as independently to manage time and priorities while achieving defined personal and team goalsAct as key service escalation point for payroll team and elevate issues to Senior Payroll ManagerEnsure Samsung company representatives utilize appropriate processing procedures including prescribed timelinesMaintain up to date procedural documents and review processes for increased efficiencies and opportunities for continuous improvementDrive training goals including position-based curriculum, fundamental payroll knowledge, career path topics and job shadowing programSupport reoccurring and ad hoc reporting including production of basic to intermediate reporting to various internal and external stakeholdersLead various project initiatives and influence results including collection of user requirements for system enhancements and solutionsDeliver business performance reviews and educational presentations to various audiences from front line employees to senior leadershipSustain periodic and cumulative audit processes for monthly, quarterly and annual activities.Actively drive team metrics tracking, analysis and reportingProactively monitor FLSA & local regulatory compliance requirements, assess impact on business interests and proactively recommend organizational education & communication actionsContribute to, represent and execute the NA SSC Payroll Team strategic vision in conjunction with the greater NA SSC and Samsung NA corporate strategiesOther duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

·       Bachelor's degree preferred

·       6+ years of progressive leadership experience in a complex environment, preferably a 3rd party US & CAN payroll or shared service function-must include manufacturing environment experience

·       Must be able to travel up to 20% around Austin and to Plano, TX 

·       4+ years in customer service related field and ability to demonstrate strong customer relationship skills

·       Experience with top tier payroll and HRIS systems (UKG Pro, UKG Dimensions, Workday or similar)

·       Ability to troubleshoot, resolve, and proactively address requests independently using pre-defined and creative solutions

·       Exceptional communication skills including the ability to adjust messaging for various levels of recipients

·       Expertly interpret, create and present a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form

·       Payroll audit, control, quality assurance and/or tax management experience

·       Payroll accounting experience including GL posting, accruals and reconciliation of payroll expenses

·       Demonstrate intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Products, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint

·       APA Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designations preferred

 

Key Results Areas  

·       Support payroll accuracy SLA at or above current SSC requirements

·       Support payroll team service request ticket resolution SLA at or above current SSC requirements

·       Ensure key quality control activities are completed according to established schedule and guidelines

·       Lead team projects and continuous improvement initiatives
