The Surgery Perioperative Assistant position assists surgical personnel in providing patient care according to department and hospital standards. Completes other supportive tasks as necessary to the safe and efficient functioning of the surgery environment. Supports Sterile Supply Coordinator and is cross trained to this position.

Work Schedule: 

40 hrs weekly / 1.0 FTE - Day and Evenings

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent Current BLS – American Heart Association or BLS – American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & Health Care Provider)  Knowledge of sterile technique (ability to recognize sterile field)  Knowledge of OR processes/procedures  Ability to facilitate turnovers (cleaning of the OR, proper disposal of hazardous waste, regular waste, linens)  Excellent communication, organization, and critical thinking skills  Ability to take direction and work independently.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous surgical environment experience Knowledge of medical terminology Experience working in hospital setting.
