Position Summary The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for performing standardized procedures as directed and assigned by the Physical Therapist, when patient's condition or anticipated response poses no problem. Minimum Qualifications Education Graduate of an approved school of physical therapy assistant curriculum required. Credentials License in the State of Nebraska to practice, as a physical therapist assistant is required. BLS certification is required. Physical Demands Stand/walk constantly. Sit occasionally. Lift waist to waist up to 50 pounds frequently, floor to waist 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds waist to overhead occasionally. Push/pull up to 40 pounds occasionally. Bend, kneel, stoop, and crawl frequently. Manual dexterity, eye hand coordination and visual acuity required within normal limits for age and gender. Reaching overhead frequently. Climb flight of 13 steps occasionally. Required to drive an automobile occasionally. Frequent use of computer required. Essential Functions Demonstrates the ability to follow a treatment plan developed by a physical therapist. Demonstrates the ability to use all modalities, patient lifts and treatment equipment. Demonstrates the ability to appropriately progress a patient under the direction of a physical therapist. Demonstrates the ability to complete all documentation accurately, completely, and timely per policy as required by Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid, the hospital, and any other industry regulating agency. This includes: treatment session notes, progress reports, and physician updates. Also demonstrates the ability and tendency to help their physical therapist document current function and progress with treatment in recertification documentation. Demonstrates the ability to manage a caseload consistent with industry, hospital and departmental standards. Demonstrates the desire to maximize his or her ability to treat patients with the most up to date techniques and principles by regularly attending education courses, seminars, and webinars or by attending continuing education courses on a regular basis. Demonstrates ability to attend all mandatory meetings and complete all competencies set by the hospital and department director within associated timeframes. Demonstrates ability to mentor students and complete the necessary paperwork associated with having a student. Demonstrates the ability to complete all aspects of physical therapy in the following settings when applied and/or assigned: inpatient, outpatient, school settings, and at sports events. Also responsible for working weekends and holidays as scheduled. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to rehabilitation billing regulations, productivity targets, progress guidelines as well as any other guidelines that govern the standard of care. Also understands responsibility to market themselves and our services to any potential patients and referral sources through formal and informal methods. Methods include completion of Adopt a Doctor tasks and completing updates as assigned by the department director. Demonstrates the ability to complete the following tasks when assigned: temperature logs, maintenance program, department cleaning, hydroculator cleaning, ice machine cleaning, booth cleaning, and any other tasks assigned by the department director.
