NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, located in the heart of Brooklyn, accommodate more than 518,076 outpatient visits, more than 141,328 emergency room visits, and with 627 beds, more than 25,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery. 

Kings County is located in the East Flatbush/Prospect-Lefferts section of Brooklyn, close to the 2 and 5 subways. Our patients are diverse, with the majority being afro-Caribbean. Most of our patients are native English speakers. Knowledge of French/Haitian Creole is helpful, but not required. 

Responsibilities

 

 Assist the physician in the performance of initial history and physical exam on in-patients. Perform the periodic physical exams on long term patient and other patients as ordered by the physician.Follow-up results lab tests, x-rays, EKG's and comparable procedures according to criteria previously established by the physician.Initiate consultations and monitor scheduling of special tests and such other routine procedures which specific supervised training has been given.Making daily rounds with physicians to observe and report pertinent progress of the patient, update and summarize the charts notifying the physician in the event of changes and the patient's condition.Develop interim summaries, transfer and discharge summaries as necessary to be signed before the fact by any physician of the service or after the fact by the preceptor or alternate.Record the required notes on all procedures preformed, to be co-signed by a physician on the service.Counsel the patient and his family with reference to preventive care, medical problems, the use of prescribed medication and drugs as well as act liaison between physician and social service.

 

Qualifications Current licensed NYC registration as Physician AssistantCurrent NCCPA certificationGraduate from approved Medical SchoolBLS & ABLS Certification
