Physician Assistant - Orthopedic Hand - Kerlan-Jobe Institute

We are seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant who will provide health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of Physician by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and complies patient medical data including health history and results of physical examination.Under the direction of a hand surgeon, you will conduct patient assessments, order, or directly provide treatments, and provide patient education and support.Provides post-op follow-ups as needed.First assist in the O/R 2-4 days per week. Work under protocol to develop an effective, safe, and patient-centered treatment planProvide timely and complete clinical documentation in the EHR following patient visits or telephone calls.Maintain ongoing communication with the physician regarding assigned patients and provide timely notification of changes in patient status.Maintain ongoing communication with other members of the care team through written documentation, telephone or in-person conversation.Ensure timely access of patient appointments.This position is 20% Clinic (2 days/week) and 80% Operating Room (OR) - up to 4 days/week.
Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant studies

License/Certification requirements:

National Certification as a Physician AssistantBLS and ACLS Certification requiredDrug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification required

Experience:

Minimum one (1) year Physician Assistant experience in a relevant clinical area preferred, e.g., orthopaedics or sports medicine, general surgery, reconstructive surgery, or other surgical specialties.
