Polish Line Operator

Job Description:

This position ensures polishing equipment is polishing slabs to expected finish and gloss specifications, while monitoring quality results and communicating any inefficiencies with the Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain the polishers and the cutting machinesEnsure that slabs are polished to meet finish and quality specificationsMaintain proper documentation on production, abrasive usage and machine settingsEnsure that slab defects caused by polishing or calibration are corrected immediatelyKeep a constant line of communication open with the Quality Control InspectorsCommunicate job problems and concerns with team members and supervisorsParticipate in weekly and daily line cleaning operations as requiredUnderstand the purpose, operation and function of the polishers, bisellos and clear water rinseComplete change overs and abrasive changesTrack the belt and know its impact on qualityUnderstand water flow, PPM range, and the importance of quality water in the processKnow and understand all quality defectsUnderstand the operation of drying booth, exit conveyors and Quality Control stationKeep work area clean and orderlyPerform job duties safely as outlined in the Polish Line Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Additional duties as assigned by management

Minimum Qualifications:

Ability to become certified in forklift and overhead crane operationAbility to read and write in English to complete required documentationBasic computer skills

Critical thinking and troubleshooting skillsBasic math skillsMechanically inclinedIndustrial work experience

Physical Requirements:

Lift up to 50 lbs.Push/pull 100 lbs.Stand on feet for long periods of time during a shift for up to 12 hours, with intermittent breaksWear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided by CambriaParticipate in daily stretch and flex exercisesOccasionally work in wet and/or humid conditionsWork in a non-climate controlled environmentBend over multiple times throughout shift
