Polisher I, 2nd Shift

Job Summary
 

The Polisher I is responsible for grinding, sanding, and polishing objects using a large polisher, small buffing machine, and sandblasting machine for two of five operations in metal conditioning (Polishing, Sandblast, Satin, Belting and/or Relieving). This position will use cloth, hand tools, and power tools to ensure a smooth surface; and will be responsible for inspecting items for flaws or cracks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Grind, sand, and polish designated components. Prepare component surface for further finishing. Correct defects and or mark cracks and splits for repair. Polish and grind components according to specifications. Required to adjust, start, or stop equipment during grinding/polishing process.Trim and scrape components using chisels and scrapers to smooth product. Clean and replace components and tooling of the polishing area.Inspect components before/after process to ensure quality standards met.Remove and report any non-conformant material to Quality or Lead. Remove completed components and place in appropriate containers.Change wheels or sanding equipment, when needed.Maintain specifications and adhere to quality assurance procedures and processes.Perform housekeeping activities in the designated work area.Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Educations and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent is required1 year experience in Production environment requiredExperience with high end metal polishing is preferred

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

Ability to work with power toolsAbility to set up and operate polishing equipmentAbility to manipulate wheel/components using proper pressure and duration to obtain desired polishEffective verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in a team and individual contributorAbility to use computer to review drawings / blueprintsMechanical aptitude is desired

Language Skills

English (reading, writing, verbal), Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply)

Other Skills

Ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holiday hours.Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have occasional bending and twisting. There will be constant usage of his/her hands to grasp and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires frequent power grasping, pushing and pulling and reaching with hands and arms. The position requires constant walking and standing. Additionally, this position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds, and push/pull or put force up to 50 pounds. Required to wear PPE (ie. Face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection on plant floor). Required to complete audiometric examination.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a manufacturing warehouse environment. The ambient conditions are moderate, and the noise level in the work environment is moderate.  Working in manufacturing environment which includes, dust, fumes, cold, and heat, humidity from plating and chemical solutions.
