Will configure and implement these devices for brain/spinal cord stimulation and recording in healthy mice/rats as well as models of neurological diseases such a neuropathic pain, Alzheimer's, traumatic brain injury and stroke, etc.; design and implement research projects; perform research to characterize and validate the devices in cultured neurons; inject or implant the devices in mouse brain/spinal cord or peripheral nervous system (PNS); characterize and validate the devices in-vivo in mice/rats; perform stimulation and/or recording of the central nervous system (CNS); and demonstrate application in the case of above-mentioned diseases. Job Requirements REQUIRED: Ph.D. in bioengineering, neuroscience, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical/electrical/electronics engineering, physics, or another relevant field; experience with neuropathic pain, Alzheimer's, traumatic brain injury, or stroke; experience with mouse surgery, stereotactic injections, and implanting electrodes or fiber photometry; experience with stimulation and/or recording from mice/rats brain; experience with the validation of stimulation and/or recording; experience with testing animal behavior; and experience with cultured cells. PREFERRED: experience with stem cells, 3D cultures, and organoids; experience with tumor models; experience with isolation and the preparation of primary cultured neurons; and experience with recording or stimulation in PNS.
