The Stiles Laboratory is seeking applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in the Center for Advanced Human Brain Imaging Research within the Brain Health Institute. The scholar will study multisensory perception, neural plasticity, and depth perception in the visually impaired and the visually restored with Retinal Prostheses by utilizing both psychophysics and neuroimaging. The proposed studies will provide crucial insights into key characteristics of functional reorganization in the human brain, and will also pave the way for the next generation of multisensory aids, multisensory visual prostheses, and rehabilitation approaches.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Perform psychophysical and MRI experiments with low vision and visually restored patients. Analyze behavioral and MRI data collected from experiments, and present data in clear language and plots. Aid with the writing, revision, and submission of Institutional Review Board applications for approval of experiments. Aid with the setup and calibration of laboratory equipment and the experimental design of new studies and investigations. Recruit patients from the Rutgers Ophthalmology and Neurology clinics, and inform patients of the research study information. Analyze, organize, and present data and results at laboratory meetings and major scientific meetings.
