A postdoctoral associate position in the area of organoid design and engineering is available in the Department of Chemical Engineering, Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA, USA). The post-doctoral associate will be responsible for developing novel techniques for designing organoids and analyzing their properties using biochemical and molecular biology techniques. The post-doctoral associate will also be responsible for data management and dissemination of scientific results.
The primary focus of the post-doctoral associate will be to assemble organoids using a combination of new biomaterials and stem-cell based methodologies. Research projects will involve the use of organoids in virology and to conduct high throughput testing of therapies.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative and interdisciplinary team at the NSF COMPASS Center, which integrates tissue engineering, stem cells, materials, virology, computational biology, machine learning, molecular environmental engineering, science communication, community engagement, and ethics. The associate will have opportunities to collaborate with virologists, drug designers, and computational biologists. Candidates should demonstrate all relevant qualifications (see required and preferred qualifications below) in their application packet.
