Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Development Scientist Group Leader will be responsible for performing multiple tasks within the Process Development group in support of biologics manufacturing process. The Leader will perform a variety of responsibilities in both a team and individual setting. This position is an on-site position and will be leading a team of 3 individual contributors.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Developing and/or improving pharmaceutical (biologics) manufacturing processes Planning experiments, routine analytical measurements operating filtration systems, analyzing data, and writing reportsProtein purification process development and improvement(i) Development of scale down models,(ii) Evaluation of new technologiesStatistical data evaluationPerform routine maintenance and calibration on critical instrumentationBuffer preparationOperate automated processes including process monitoring

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBITIES:

Supports and monitors performance of team of analystsMay participate in new hire interviewsSupports the on-boarding process of new employeesParticipates in training of other employees.Performs peer review of data.

Qualifications

BASIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

BS degree in biological or related sciencesExperience with large scale-up equipmentUnderstanding of protein separation and protein purificationEffective oral and written communicationsStrong problem-solving skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ultra Filtration experiencePilot Plant experienceLiquid separation experiencePreparative Chromatography experienceExperience using JPM, Minitab and/or Unicorn software packages
