Job Description

Come be an integral part of our growing team at Ensign Bickford Aerospace and Defense (EBAD)! Located in the heart of Connecticut in the quintessential New England town of Simsbury, Ensign Bickford has the exciting new role of Process Engineer, designed to support our Printed Circuit Board Assembly line.

This role directly works with highly complex Aerospace and Defense electronics and offers the unique ability to be a key contributor early in the design phases of electronic circuit boards while being a contributing member to PCBA manufacturing operations. This blend will enhance technical capabilities to continue personal and professional growth in a high performing team. Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for EBAD’s PCBA manufacturing line, including but not limited to the following;

Work with Engineering on complex product issues and failure investigationsPartner with the setup, operation and maintenance of PCBA equipment utilized to support EBAD’s electronic programsSafe and environmentally compliant operation of PCBA equipment while maintaining effectiveness of work cellDevelop standard work and manufacturing process documentation defining the operation of the PCBA equipmentPrepares process documentation including standard work packages, manufacturing instructions and process specifications in a visual formatTraining of operators to standard work and manufacturing process documentationCritical evaluation and approval of PCBA drawing packages to ensure manufacturability of new product designsEnsure manufacturing readiness of low volume high complexity PCBA'sDevelop and document process validation plans and results Coordinate design and procurement of tooling, fixtures and work aidesPopulates product structures and routers in IFS Applications, an ERP systemDevelopment and implementation of continuous improvement activities Provide supplier management and development support for PCB Contract Manufacturers (New Supplier Assessment, Process Development, Assembly Support, Source Inspection, Etc.)Interface with a variety of personnel in support of production including technicians, quality engineers, inspectors, planner, program managers, project engineers and design engineers

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a AS/BS in electrical engineering or equivalent work experience as an electronics manufacturing engineer and 5-10 years of experience.PCB Assembly, Electro-mechanical Assembly, IPC & J-STD Specification KnowledgeExposure to SMT Equipment Setup, Operation, and MaintenanceExposure to PCBA Test & Inspection equipment (Flying Probe, AOI, X-Ray, etc.)​Process development experience Demonstrated capabilities writing proceduresDemonstrated strong problem solving skills

Preferred Skills:

Experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing systems or Continuous Improvement are a strong plusFundamental knowledge of root cause/corrective and preventative action and the ability to walk project teams and customers through the analysisExperience in visual daily management and data collection systemsElectronics testing and trouble shooting experience (Oscilloscopes, Meters, Power Supplies, etc.)Experience working in a development atmosphere including exposure to stage gate processesFamiliarity with configuration management practicesFamiliarity with PFMEA type tools
