Process Engineer

The Process Engineer (PE) is a critical member of Creation's Engineering Team and subject matter expert (SME) in equipment and methods of manufacturing circuit card assembly (CCA) and/or box assembly. The PE understands and executes equipment selection, performance, maintenance, and validation. PE will work in collaboration to analyze and resolve a variety of technical issues related to quality and manufacturing. The PE will ensure equipment utilization to its capabilities and optimizes performance. This position directly reports to the Process Engineering Leader.

Roles & Responsibilities including but not limited to: 

Work alongside Project Engineers, Production Associates, Process Engineers and Management to achieve the following:Improved efficiency (Performance to Standard, Turn around time, Changeover time)High first pass yields (SMT, TH)Best quality (DPMO)Work on continuous improvement of the processes on the production floor to improve quality and cycle time by focusing on:Defect data analysisAssembly tools and fixturesAutomation of processes and equipmentElimination of redundant and non-value-added operationsOptimizing the product flowKey focus on surface mount assembly equipment including pick and place, printing and reflow to enhance equipment performance, support the operators in on-going process improvement and training.Lead discussions concerning process requirements, concepts, and strategy decisions.Establish tailored electronic or mechanical assembly process concepts, practices, and procedures at the team or department level using expertise in these areas.Provide technical oversight and guidance to newer team members.Exhibit in-depth knowledge of industry-related guidelines/standards and direct activities based on that knowledge.Program, set up, and debug SMT assembly equipment. Equipment includes but is not limited to, a solder paste printer, pick and place reflow solder oven, selective solder, and aqueous wash.Create, update, and manage documentation (i.e. work instructions, routings, and other procedures for use by production personnel).Provide “on the floor” technical support as required for critical process and product issues.Execute engineering/manufacturing change orders.Develop and maintain process quality control systems to ensure product quality.Create PFMEA and product/process risk analysis of new products.Coordinate prototype builds and process development.

 

Required Qualifications: 

Minimum 3 years of experience in SMT/CCA manufacturing engineering processes or direct technical support of an electronics assembly process equivalent.Strong knowledge of surface mount and through-hole technologies.Trained in IPC/EIA J-STD-00 working standards.Working knowledge of CAD software, pick and place software, and databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in either electrical, mechanical, manufacturing engineering, or related technical field from an accredited institution.Subject matter expert in the area of SMT or Wave solderingKnowledge of Process control methodologies (SPC, Cp, Cpk,)Process Expert in one or more of SMT, Wave soldering, and Mechanical AssemblyMinimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in electronic manufacturing with a focus on SMT, Conformal Coat and Wave solderingKnowledge of IPC documentation

 

Proven Skills & Abilities: 

Programming/Profiling and Debugging skills for the following equipment;Solder paste printer equipment, Solder paste inspection equipment, pick and place equipment, reflow oven equipment, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment, X-ray equipment, circuit card wash equipment, circuit card conformal coat equipment.
