Product Development Engineer

If good is just never good enough for you, Ford Quality shares your passion for striving for perfection. We’re responsible for driving the continuous improvement efforts that enable Ford to deliver the highest quality products and services. Help us drive operational excellence through such innovative, proprietary initiatives as our Global Product Development System, Quality Operating System and New Model Launch. Work cross-functionally and closely with integrated teams in Manufacturing, Product Development, Purchasing, Marketing, Sales and Service.

In this position…

ICE and Thermal Systems Powertrain Systems Engineering (IPTSE) has created a new High Time in Service (HTIS) Quality Team to address Quality issues that typically manifest later in product life, from 12 “Months in Service” (MIS) through to 10 years / 150,000 miles and beyond.  These issues are more design/physics related versus the typical 3 MIS supplier and manufacturing defect issues.

Team members will be expected to identify high priority HTIS quality issues via warranty data analysis and projections, discussions with fleets and dealerships and other indicators of “out of warranty” high failure rate issues that negatively impact customer loyalty.

Key tasks will include leading projects addressing this high priority issues working closely with other engineers, Technical Specialists (TS's) and management using Ford's structured problem-solving tools and 8D and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Processes, developing root causes and corrective actions and ensuring migration of newly gained knowledge to all applications and updating of corporate memory documents.
