Position Summary

The purpose of this role is to oversee the daily operations of manufacturing, coordinating work between the production team and other departments with a goal of satisfying our customers and our sales team while developing the capabilities of the production team.

Accountabilities

Demonstrate safety leadership and maintain a safe working environment for all employees, prioritizing safety over all other objectives. Ensure actions and initiatives within the production team are in alignment and in support of the plant safety program. Lead by example and drive accountability for safety within the production team by increasing team safety awareness, ensuring use of safe work practices and compliance with safety rules, and taking immediate action to resolve safety concerns. Manage the planning and deployment of resources within the production team to efficiently meet customer expectations. Serve as a liaison between the production scheduler and the shift managers, ensuring appropriate information is communicated to the production team, and that materials and resources are in place to support production needs. Coordinate work schedules, engaging staffing agencies as needed to support fluctuating labor requirements. Lead the daily coordination of mold changes, job startups, etc. Develop standards and systems within the production department, taking actions to ensure these are implemented effectively and consistently. Utilize the Rehrig Management System to define, audit, and continuously improve production processes. Establish plant cleanliness and organization (5S) expectations and practices. Identify and act on lead measures to support plant achievement of waste reduction and cycle efficiency targets. Monitor production performance indicators and take appropriate action to identify root cause of variances, engaging technical teams as necessary for resolution. Coach, manage, and lead the production team in alignment with our core values. Establish role clarity, oversee staffing for the production department, drive accountability through effective performance management, build teamwork and camaraderie between shifts, coach and develop direct reports, instill core values and drive engagement within the team. Manage production department expenses and labor within budget.
