Production Operator Job

Position Summary:

As a Production Operator you will be responsible for manufacturing custom chemicals that are used in fertilizer & mining, industrial minerals, and road construction.  Shift schedule rotates days, nights and weekends – 12 hour shifts - 6am/pm-6pm/am, Overtime maybe required depending on demands of the business.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Load/unload products from/to bulk storage tanks, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulated tank trailers, overseas shipping containers, railcars, totes and drums. Connect/disconnect hoses, open/close valves and transfer products using liquid pumping systems. Use a Distributed Control System (DCS) computer system to monitor chemical processes. Depending on business demand operators maybe required to work more than one area during a shift. Use basic math to verify proper chemical formula ratios. Troubleshoot equipment and processes. Complete paperwork, sign Bill of Ladings, document material transfers, placard vessels for safe transportation of product. Calculate, manage and document the transfer of products to maintain acceptable inventory levels. Climb on ladders to secure and open dome lids on tank trailers, shipping containers and railcars. Follows all established safety rules and procedures required by ArrMaz and OSHA Standards.  Performs Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) as required. Enters work orders into computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to ensure equipment remains in good working order. Keep work area clean by completing routine housekeeping duties.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required. Experience in a chemical related field, preferred. Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification, highly desirable.

 

Personal Characteristics:

Ability to pass a job-related math exam and job-related DOT placarding exam. Ability to read a tape measure. Capable of driving a DOT tank trailer transport vehicle and forklift. Ability to understand the basics of chemical properties and recognize potential hazards.
