Functions as Graduate Engineer in providing engineering support for project management and design development of transit projects related to the light rail lines, park & rides, bus shelters and facility upgrades. Will assist Program Managers in the development of design documents, technical reports, cost estimates and schedules. Interacts with the City of Houston, Harris County and the governmental entities and agencies within METRO’s region as well as other METRO Departments. Responsibilities include engineering design and assisting with coordination and monitoring of projects. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Bachelor’ degree in Engineering or related field is required.
Years & Experience RequiredMinimum 0-2 years of related experience in the design and development of construction projects preferred.
Knowledge & Skills RequiredEngineer-In-Training (EIT) License or ability to attain within Six (6) months of hire. Knowledgeable of computer aided drafting and design systems. Experience with MicroStation software, Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Must have a willingness to work on a variety of projects with a strong desire to learn, be motivated and enthusiastic about all aspects of the role, and enjoy the challenge of taking on new responsibilities.
