OFFICE LOCATION: Hybrid in any of our NYC, NY, NJ or CT offices.

 

The Candidate’s primary scope of responsibility includes the review of financial statements and inspection/Engagement Quality Review (“EQR”) of workpapers to ensure compliance with all relevant professional and regulatory standards and Firm policies, procedures and practices. The Candidate will need to interact with others across all levels of the Firm and on occasion with clients and must have the ability to manage multiple projects. The Candidate will report to Quality Control Assurance Department Leadership.

 

This individual will be involved in the following responsibilities/functions and should possess the following qualifications:  

Essential Duties Assist in development and maintenance of the Firm’s accounting and auditing professional practice policies, standards, library, and templatesPerform pre-issuance technical review of financial statements and communicate directly with engagement teamsPerform pre-issuance EQR and post issuance review of attest work papers and communicate results to Quality Assurance Department Leadership and engagement personnelApply GAAP, GAAS, and GAGAS procedures consistently within complex situations and write technical consultation memoranda on these standards/issuesAssist in monitoring compliance with the Firm’s quality control systemAssist with the implementation of new accounting and audit standardsServe as a technical resource to partners, managers and staffProactively participate in engagement team planning and team discussion meetings when deemed appropriate by Quality Assurance Department leadershipIdentify areas that need or could benefit from improvement and develop practice aids, tools and methodology to affect changeMaintain technical accounting and auditing knowledge and skills by studying trends and developments in quality management, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizationsAssist in developing and presenting live and/or webcast firm continuing professional education program materialsMentor staff in areas requiring quality related improvement and otherwise contribute to their professional developmentWrite thought leadership articles on new/emerging GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS and Uniform Grant Guidance mattersAssist in implementation of new software, methodology and audit toolsParticipate in firm triennial peer and PCAOB review inspections and other regulatory inspections that may ariseParticipate in due diligence projects to assess audit quality, effectiveness and efficiency of existing engagements and/or or potential firm merger candidates Qualifications Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Accounting from an accredited college/universityActive CPA license required6+ years prior experience in public accounting (quality control experience a plus)Extensive knowledge/experience of the following: U.S. GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, Uniform Grant Guidance and HUD requirementsSignificant knowledge/experience in the not-for-profit, charter school, employee benefit plan (ERISA and non-ERISA) and affordable housing industries, single audit background requiredAbility to work in a paperless environmentAbility to work effectively in a remote work environmentExcellent interpersonal skills and strong work ethicProficiency in presenting to large groups (in person and/or virtually)Excellent communication and computer skills, including strong knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPointAbility to work collegially within the Quality Assurance Department and with client service teamsCreative and thoughtful problem-solving skillsResearching complex accounting and auditing issues in Checkpoint and AccountingResearch Manager research product suites

The compensation for this position ranges from $110,000 - $150,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills and certifications.
