Quality Engineer

Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA, Matrix location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Support maintenance of comprehensive quality system.  Assure compliance to required systems and procedures.Develop and oversee inspection for composite prepreg, film and resin manufacturing.Participate in contract reviews, design reviews, specification reviews, develop inspection plans, approve production planning with respect to quality, first article and inspection requirements and drive overall product quality improvement.Analyze technical requirements of contracts, drawings and specifications to develop plans for product quality.Regular and frequent communication with customer quality assurance organizations.  Must be able to communicate directly and support company needs while maintaining the utmost personal integrity.  Must work with customer’s on-site representation.  Must visit customer sites from time to time and present a positive, professional image.Maintain corrective action plans as required to support customer requirements. Create and maintain quality documentation when required by customer or internal system.Understand and apply all applicable customer specifications and procedural requirements.Understand and follow all applicable internal quality policies and procedural requirements.Conduct/lead internal and external audits as required.Perform standard quality engineering tasks – non-conforming material disposition, non-conforming cost/trend analysis, corrective/preventive action, customer/internal MRB, process improvements, automation of systems, inspection criteria, specification and contract review, communication to and training of personnel.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a technical field from a four-year college or university.Minimum of 3 years with 5 years’ experience in a Lab Environment preferred.Experience in developing procedures of which lead to repeatability and improved capability.Six Sigma, Lean, ASQ CQE or CQA certification is strongly preferred. Working knowledge AS9100, ISO 9001 and/or Nadcap standards including auditing experience.Experience with composite materials is a plus. Ability to lead continuous improvement and lean projects and use or evaluate statistical data analysis tools during continuous improvement projects.Working knowledge of measurement and inspection equipment.Working knowledge of quality management systems to include the purpose and baseline standards.Working knowledge of process management, product/process risk management, and process metrics.
