Quality Manager

Job Summary

The Quality Manager oversees the implementation of quality assurance and improvement initiatives. He/she develops, implements, and maintains mechanisms to track and evaluate the effectiveness of the quality assessment/performance improvement projects/initiatives. The Quality Manager serves as a consultant to other areas and departments. He/she collects data, prepares analyses, and presents this information to committees and teams as applicable. Additionally, he/she coordinates and initiates action plans, and develops process improvement in these areas, along with supervising relative Quality department staff.  He/she supervises any outsourced entities relating to this duty.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

Registered nurse graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a license to practice professional nursing in the state of Texas. Bachelor’s degree required – in nursing, healthcare administration, or related field; Masters preferred.

Minimum Work Experience

Five years of nursing experience. Three years of experience in project management and performance improvement activities. Two years of healthcare regulatory experience working with TJC, CMS, or other regulatory agencies or organizations. One year of healthcare leadership experience, preferably in quality, risk, compliance, and/or patient safety.

Strong computer skills are essential. Knowledge of research and analytic techniques. Ability to define study methodology, manage projects, and analyze findings. Demonstrates the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data. Prepares cogent reports facilitating decision-making. Facilitates innovation and is able to motivate groups towards solutions. Proven leadership and team-building skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ability to take calculated risks and to manage multiple and competing priorities. Ability to supervise professional and nonprofessional staff. Superb verbal and written communication skills. Outstanding interpersonal skills, requisite poise, judgment and trustworthiness to represent the PI department to internal and external groups. Knowledge of TJC, TDSHS, and other regulatory standards and ability to interpret the standards.
