ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Quality Control Manager and is located in Pinetops, North Carolina. As a Quality Tester 1st Shift, you will be performing testing and checking activities during the manufacturing process. In this role you will perform routine electrical tests and checks of the products by following procedures and instructions specified in manuals and test scripts. You could be exposed to electromagnetic fields. You will be required to lift and maneuver up to 50 pounds. You will work with voltage up to 100,000 volts and current up to 60,000 amps.

Your responsibilities

Physical pre-testing activities for newly developed products to ensure the quality of the product or manufacturing processesPerforming all factory acceptance testing checks as assigned to meet production goals while focusing on QualityConducting shop floor operations in compliance with health and safety guidelines, and reporting any non-complianceProcess certified test reports upon successful completion of testingCross training will be expected and requiredPotential of some weekday and weekend On Time (OT)

Your background

Two or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment working with electrical testing equipment performing tests like overvoltage, dielectrics, accuracy, PD, HLIC, and LIC is preferred1 year experience in qualityKnowledge of smart metering devices and power suppliesAbility to read basic production documents (I.e., work instructions, drawings), understand basic math skills and read measurement toolsProficiency with Microsoft Office, SAP, and ATS preferredA collaborative, solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skillsKnowledge of basic electricity and circuits is preferredAbility and willingness to climb ladders, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift heavy objectsUnderstand and carry out oral and written instructionsGood written and oral communication skillsAbility and willingness to climb ladders, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift heavy objects. Work as a member of a teamDesired experience in SAP and WindchillAbility to work with teams and deliver feedback to operators concerning identified issuesCandidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
