Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Junior Rail Vehicle Mechanical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Vehicle Mechanical Engineering group in our Brooklyn, NY office.

In this role, the ideal candidate is a mechanical engineer with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Candidates must have knowledge of core mechanical engineering concepts. Some experience working in the rail industry is a bonus. An FE registration is desirable but not required.
This position will report to the Resource Director, Vehicle Mechanical Engineering - Northeast
As the successful candidate, you will:
Assist in the review design submittals, and the preparation of detailed review findings Participate in technical working sessions to address issues raised by clients Prepare technical briefs, presentations and reports that identify work progress, defects/non-conformances, and areas of concern Witness electro-mechanical equipment undergoing qualification testing, including shock and vibration, environmental, and functional testing Assist with the conduct forensic investigation of failed components and equipment and reporting findings under the direction of senior staff Develop technical specifications for mechanical equipment Participate in quality assurance and manufacturing audits under the direction of senior staff Provide engineering support as required
Requirements
The following skills/experience are a plus:
Basic programming skills Experience of Finite Element (ANSYS or Equivalent) Software Rapid prototyping / 3D printing
