POSITION SUMMARY:

The Records and Information Manager, reporting to the Director, Legal Operations and based at Kemper’s  corporate headquarters in Chicago, oversees all aspects of managing electronic and physical records within the company, and will help transition Kemper’s Records and Information Management (“RIM”) program to a broader information governance program.

POSITION RESPONSIBLITIES:

Lead Kemper’s record retention and disposition function in compliance with company policies and applicable schedules and proceduresIdentify and mitigate RIM-related risks and provide management reports on RIM programManage offsite storage inventory and vendor relationships, including coordination of activities with vendors providing storage, shredding, imaging and other related servicesDevelop strategies and implement updates that modernize records management processes, enhance compliance, and ensure the security, accessibility and defensible disposition of stored information, with particular attention to lifecycle management in M365Collaborate with Records Liaisons in all business functions to execute RIM projects and monitor compliancePartner with legal, privacy, information security, human resources, information technology, compliance and other teams to update, maintain and track policies, procedures and trainingCollaborate with business partners on digitization and data migration projectsUpdate RIM-related training modules as policies and technologies are revised Keep abreast of developments and best practices in Records Management industryCollaborate with Director, Legal Operations to enhance and modernize information management and governance and improve content sharing and file organization processesProvide administrative coordination on periodic regulatory examinations

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years of records information management in financial services or insurance industry3+ years of supervisory and/or management experienceBachelor’s Degree Demonstrated competence in records management, with experience conducting inventories, data mapping, researching and developing retention schedules, understanding media types, creating file classification systems and techniques, etc.Demonstrated competence with Microsoft O365 environment, including strong experience managing SharePoint sites and document librariesExperience with document conversions, data migrations and digitization initiatives Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment Excellent project management, organization, communication and skillsAbility to analyze problems and propose and implement solutionsDegree in Records Management, Library Science, or Management Information SystemsKnowledge of insurance industry information handling requirementsInformation governance-related certifications (CRM, CIPP, IGP)Experience fielding and fulfilling regulatory information requestsSponsorship is not accepted for this opportunity.This is a hybrid position reporting weekly into our Chicago, IL office.
