Registered Nurse (RN) Pediatric PACU

The Pediatric PACU at Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for an experienced nurse to join their team. This is a full-time 36 hours/week.  Schedule: 3x12hr shifts: 0800-2030 with occasional PreOp shifts (0600-1830). Ocassional weekend shifts required.

Our passionate Pediatric PACU is seeking an experienced nurse to join their team. Preoperative and PACU department cares for all types of pediatric patients that require surgical care or anesthesia for testing.  We focus on the child and their family for education, preparation, and recovery of all types of surgical and anesthetic needs. Team is oriented to and will continue to support our patients all phases of care.   We care for 15-20 patients a day on average, we support both inpatient and outpatient cases.

The Registered Nurse Post Anesthesia Care Unit provides knowledgeable and caring clinical practice and care coordination through an understanding of patient, family, nurse, and healthcare delivery team. Consistently provides safe, therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. Incorporates differences into the provision of care. All patient care and interactions are patient and family centered. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families throughout the continuum, to include patient and family education. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others. Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines. Uses an integrated approach toward patient outcomes. Serves as an empowering body to influence patient empowerment and successful outcomes of financial and clinical quality, through relationships and access-based knowledge. Utilizing standards, guidelines, and pathways for care delivery. The process for delivery of care is synthesized from direct patient and family communication, technology, and other healthcare team member collaboration. Ensures improvements in practice settings, by assuming responsibility for self-development in lifelong learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice. Serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision making and problem solving.

Job Requirements:  

Education: BSN from an accredited school of nursing.

If RN has an Associates Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 24 months of start date.

One year of PACU/Critical Care Nursing experience is required Solid PACU experience in similar unit is highly desired RN license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia ACLS, PALS, BLS healthcare provider certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA)
