SUMMARY

The Relationship Manager, Consultant Relations reports to the Senior Relationship Manager within Asset Servicing Americas Consultant Relations and works closely with external consultants and internal departments at Northern Trust. The role is focused on developing consultant relationships, keeping consultants informed of Northern Trust strategy, products, and capabilities and serving as an additional point of escalation for Sales and Client Servicing partners. The role requires frequent communication with external and internal stakeholders.

MAJOR DUTIES

Serve as primary point of contact for external consultants; including investment consultants, OCIO providers, management and operations consultantsKeep consultants informed of Northern Trust products, capabilities, strategy and enhancements  Organize and prepare consultant meetings and presentations, including logistics, materials, prep sessions, and call notesPrepare strategic calling plans and consultant profiles for each providerExternal and internal point of escalation for consultant issues and/or inquiries working with internal Sales and Client Servicing partnersWork closely with internal Consultant Relations colleagues across other regions and business units, including Northern Trust Asset Management and Capital MarketsRespond to consultant annual RFPs and related questionsCompile data, metrics, statistics and reports as neededPlan and execute on consultant-focused mailing campaigns and eventsGather, evaluate, and communicate competitive and market intelIdentify and recommend processes to gain efficiencies and improve best practicesExercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of informationManage ad hoc projects alongside daily job responsibilities including Asset Servicing Technology Champion

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

Knowledge of Northern Trust organization, products, and servicesA deep understanding of Northern Trust fund service capabilities, specifically administration and middle officeAbility to foster strategic consultant relationshipsWell-developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required to interact with internal and external partiesApplies best practices to all tasks with a commitment to excellenceEmploys creative solutions to improve efficiency and team executionIs aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate Northern Trust in the market.Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus.Should be able to work independently and manage multiple, time sensitive itemsFlexibility, adaptability, and attention to detail are essential personality traits.Proficiency with Dynamics CRM toolAble to travel to consultants as neededExpert understanding of related computer applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, are preferred

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Minimum of 3+ years of related experienceMay lead significant projects with manageable risks and resource requirementsPrior external-facing experiencePrior fund service capabilities knowledge and/or experience, specifically administration and middle-office
