A position is available in the Trussell Laboratory in the Oregon Hearing Research Center. The appointee will assist in immunohistological and electrophysiological experiments on the central auditory system of mice. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, basic mouse care, solution preparation, perfusion/fixation, tissue sectioning, immunohistological staining, confocal imaging and digital cell reconstruction. Additional opportunities available in electrophysiology, including electrode preparation, patch-clamp and analysis. Appointee should be available for trainings in essential skills, as needed.

Function/Duties of Position

Preparing experimental solutions

All steps of immunohistological studies 

Assisting in patch-clamp studies 

Contributing to basic lab management and animal care 

Training/study in essential methodologies

Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical engineering, or neuroscience-related field.  
OR Associate's AND 3 years of relevant experience 
OR 4 years of relevant experience 
OR Equivalent combination of training and experience

Must be comfortable using computers and working with animals. 

Must have good oral and written English communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical engineering, or neuroscience-related field.

At least one-year total of experience in a laboratory setting.

Experience with immunolabeling, microscopy, NIH ImageJ, some experience in electrophysiology.
