What is the Opportunity?

Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Biotechnology sector

What will you do? Develop an expertise in the Biotechnology sectorAssist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial modelsCoordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databasesProvide research support to analyst as requiredIncumbent is in the process of developing core Research Associate skillsSupport and answer client queries as they relate to the sectorProactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the businessReview and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activitiesEscalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.

What do you need to succeed?

  Basic Qualifications (Legislative Requirement)

PhD, MD, or similar advanced degree in life sciences field relevant to therapeuticsNYSE Licensing Requirements – Series 7, 63, 86 & 87, SIE

Other Required Qualifications:

1-2 years of work experience in a non-academic setting such as biopharma industry/drug development, life sciences consulting, or investment banking is a plusFamiliarity with accounting and financial modelingPrevious exposure to the biopharmaceuticals sectorEfficient writing capabilitiesStrong computer skills (Excel) with ability to quickly learn new platformsDetail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstreamEnergetic, self-motivated and an ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of timeDemonstrated passion for equity/financial marketsPrior sell-side equity research experience in biotechnology, pharma, or specialty pharmaceuticals is a plusGood understanding of financial/stock marketKnowledge of Wolters Kluwer software and IMS are a plus

The work environment is based on a office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is requiredThe office environment can be a high stress environment that requires quick turnaround and decision making

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
