Heritage Ministries is in growth mode and currently seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our team! The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for direct respiratory care of all residents in their assigned area. Responsible for delivery of respiratory care consistent with facility standards and established policies and procedures. The Respiratory Therapist provides high quality patient care considering age specific, developmental, and cultural needs through competent practice and application of the respiratory care practice process. Responsibilities

Examining and interviewing patients Consulting with physicians to determine treatment plans Performing diagnostic tests, such as measuring lung capacity Treating patients using a variety of methods, such as aerosol medications and chest physiotherapy Obtaining and analyzing blood and sputum specimens following demonstrated competency Monitoring and recording patients’ progress Teaching patients and families how to use equipment and take medications

The respiratory therapist must be capable of performing CPR without limitation and respond to all emergent situations to manage respiratory status.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Supports and adheres to Heritage Ministries Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Observes and promotes resident’s rights at all times. Serves as a resident advocate Adheres to work schedule by regular and punctual attendance. Demonstrates a cooperative, courteous, respectful image at all times while on duty or representing Heritage Ministries. Supports staff by assisting co-workers with a teamwork attitude. Observes and adheres to departmental and position control dress code guidelines. Effectively read, write, and speak in the English language. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Education Program Current licensure as a respiratory therapist in New York State Current registration through the National Board for Respiratory Care within 6 months of hire 1 year of respiratory therapy experience, preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift, push, and pull over 60 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, squat, twist and engage in repetitive motion for extended periods of time.
