What you will do:

Facilitates learning by assessing the learning needs of the student, planning for the achievement of educational outcomes, implementing student learning activities and evaluating student achievement. Promotes learner development and socialization to the role of the nurse by advising students regarding academic progress, providing resources to diverse learners and initiating appropriate referrals for students with academic difficulties. Effectively functions within the educational environment by actively participating and contributing to committees; preparing reports and channeling them appropriately; and fulfilling co-curricular responsibilities as listed in the annual letter of appointment. Demonstrates responsibility for continued professional growth, competence and development; attends education programs relevant to primary teaching responsibilities; volunteers in community activities; participates in scholarly activities and faculty development programs. Participates effectively in continuous quality improvement, curriculum design and evaluation of program outcomes reflective of evidence-based practice, the school philosophy, and the Firelands Health mission and vision. Provides leadership for change to promote an innovative and effective educational environment. 

Other tasks:

Provides direction to teaching assistants and preceptors who are supervising nursing students in the clinical area. Utilizes assessment techniques to identify student learning needs. Plans course content based on course objectives and end-of-program student learning outcomes. Uses teaching methods which are varied and appropriate for the learning outcomes desired. Guides the learner in critical thinking, clinical judgment and problem solving. Provides learners with opportunities to assume increasing responsibility for self-development and identification of the learner’s own strengths and limitations. Implements evaluation techniques based on learning outcomes. Records student progress according to guidelines in the Faculty Manual. Identifies own strengths and weaknesses and seeks assistance for improvement. Develops and maintains course resources within the learning management system. Uses various technologies to enhance learning strategies. Provides assistance and support where needed. Demonstrates service excellence and ACE

What you will need: 

Completion of an approved registered nursing education program. A master’s degree with a major in nursing - or - A BSN may be considered if enrolled in an MSN program Current valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio. Experience for at least 2 years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse. Membership in a professional nursing organization is recommended.
