Job description

Kootenai Health is currently hiring a patient-focused RN to join our General Surgery Unit. Candidates with a high level of team work and drive to provide exceptional care to those they serve are a must.

Team Highlights

2 South is a medical/surgical unit that specializes in post-operative recovery of patients after the Recovery Room such as general surgical, genitourinary, general cardiothoracic, and general vascular. Additionally, the General Surgery Unit cares for patients who may be cared for throughout the surgical care continuum such as pre-operative complications, post-operative complications as well as a variety of medical patients. Due to the wide variety of patients cared for on 2 South, one could also expect to see multiple drains such as chest tubes, JP drains, ostomies, and foley catheters just to name a few.

30 bed unit that is growing to meet the increasing high acuity needs of our community Staffing ratios of 5:1 Exposure to a variety of surgeries This unit is a great starting point for an RN that would like to eventually move into the PACU, OR, ICU or L&D

 

About the Job

· Evaluates, plans, implements, and documents nursing care for an assigned patient population

· Assists physician during examinations and procedures

· Performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice of the registered nurse

· Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patient and family to understand the condition, medications, and self-care skills

· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

· Performs other related duties as assigned

· Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field

· Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function

· Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program required RN with less than 3 years’ patient-facing nursing experience at time of hire are required to be enrolled in a baccalaureate (or higher) degree program in nursing within 1 year of employment, with completion within 3 years of hire RN with at least 3 years’ patient-facing nursing experience at time of hire, ADN or diploma required; BSN or higher preferred State of Idaho Registered Nurse OR licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the “multistate privilege to practice” compact with Idaho prior to start date BLS Required
