This is a PRN position.

General Summary

The House Supervisor is a Registered Nurse who under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager and is responsible to maintain continuity of patient care in the absence of the Unit Directors in all areas of the hospital. Assures adequate staffing and optimum utilization of personnel. Exhibits strong communication skills, leadership and managerial abilities, and clinical skills. Exemplifies a positive role model for the department morale, attendance, quality of care, and professionalism. Promotes the institutional philosophy, mission, and values during all interactions with patients, families, staff and the community.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills:

1. Must be a graduate of accredited school of nursing. BSN degree preferred.

2. Current R.N. Ohio license.

3. Maintain provider certification in BCLS and ACLS.

4. Minimum of three years’ experience as staff nurse.

5. Demonstrated potential for supervisory responsibilities.

6. Interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with multiple complex demands of relationships on the unit and departmental level, as well as with internal and external customers.

7. Successful completion of general and unit-specific orientation and hospital probationary period. Completes orientation checklist.

8. Must have theoretical knowledge combined with clinical experience in providing nursing care for a variety of patients. Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with people of varying backgrounds.

Working Conditions:

Requires full range of body motion, including moving/lifting patients and equipment, manual dexterity, eye/hand coordination. The physical demands of the job range from medium to heavy. Correct visual acuity (including the ability to discern colors) and hearing required. Ability to cope with stressful conditions.

Reporting Relationships: Responsible to Nursing Manager. Workers supervised: RNs, LPNs, STNAs, Unit Coordinators, EMS staff
