Sales Audit Accountant

This team is responsible for all aspects of Credit, Debit and Gift Card activity from Point of Sale to the Company’s Financial Statements, as well as Retail and Import Accounting.

The successful candidate will help to safeguard controls over the revenue cycle. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the preparation of journal entries, financial statements, variance commentary, account reconciliations, budget/forecast plans, analytical reporting, and project implementation support.

This position requires a high attention to detail, advanced excel skills, eagerness to learn, and strong collaboration abilities. Data mining, project implementation, process improvement and issues management will be critical to this role.

Oversee ReSA system to ensure data governance and accuracy of sales information and balancing.Serve as the Accounting Liaison to ensure accurate sales and tender accounting & reportingResponsible for Controls\Narratives of the Sales Audit departmentManage and review assigned quarterly PBC’s and be primary Sales Audit department lead with PWC to ensure clarity of communication with auditorsReview periodic departmental expense forecasts specifically related to over\short cash issues, chargebacks, interchange fees and gift card profitabilityReview assigned monthly general ledger account reconciliations within established deadlines including store cash, credit cards, & gift card reconciliationsManage Credit Accounting requirements specifically related to the Synchrony Loyalty relationshipOversee the Belk Reward Dollars accounting to ensure proper accounting of loyal liabilitiesPartner with the Financial Reporting department to ensure Revenue Recognition standards are consistent with company accounting & reportingSupport the Credit Operations department with information related to gift card strategy & chargeback expense reportingWork directly with Asset Protection, Store Operations and IT to ensure processes and systems are effective and efficient for the Store OrganizationManage the monthly closing process to ensure alignment with Financial reporting expectations as well as review of accurate and complete financial informationOversight of daily deposits

Minimum Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree / Finance / Accounting

• 3-5 years accounting work experience

Preferred Education & Experience:

Finance/AccountingIn-Store Retail experience
