Sanitation Supervisor

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sanitation Supervisor to join our team at one of our Alaska processing facilities. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of sanitation within the plant, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and HACCP principles. 

You'll lead your team, ensure regulatory compliance with AKOSH, OSHA, FDA, and USDA, and implement best practices to maintain the highest levels of sanitation according to HACCP guidelines. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
The duties in this position include the following: 

Oversee and manage a sanitation team, providing clear instructions, fostering a positive environment, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols established by AKOSH and OSHA. Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive sanitation programs that comply with AKOSH, OSHA, FDA, and USDA regulations to maintain exceptional cleanliness throughout the facility. Conduct regular inspections of equipment, work areas, and processing lines, identifying, and addressing sanitation concerns promptly. Train sanitation staff on proper cleaning procedures, the safe use of sanitation chemicals in accordance with AKOSH and OSHA regulations and maintaining a hygienic work environment. Maintain accurate sanitation records, including chemical usage logs, cleaning schedules, and inspection reports, to ensure compliance with AKOSH, OSHA, FDA, and USDA regulations. Stay up to date on all federal, state, and local sanitation regulations applicable to the seafood processing industry, including those established by AKOSH, OSHA, FDA, and USDA. Collaborate with production and Quality Assurance teams to seamlessly integrate sanitation practices within the production process, ensuring adherence to HACCP guidelines. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement new sanitation techniques and technologies to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with AKOSH, OSHA, FDA, and USDA regulations. Perform hands-on cleaning tasks as needed to ensure a clean and sanitary work environment. Other duties, as assigned.

Education and Experience 

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience supervising sanitation in a food manufacturing or seafood processing plant. Prior experience working in various processing and food manufacturing plants, with a demonstrated broader understanding of sanitation practices across different environments. In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles and best practices within the food industry, especially HACCP regulations. A strong understanding of chemical safety and proper handling procedures for cleaning solutions. Prior experience with AKOSH, OSHA, FDA, and USDA regulations applicable to sanitation in food processing facilities is a significant benefit. 

Physical Demands 

While performing duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit; handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Travel across Silver Bay locations will be required, some of which are located in remote areas of Alaska. While onsite at Silver Bay production locations, the employee will be working in a loud, wet, and noisy seafood processing plant environment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
