Senior Accountant

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant will be a key member of Ocular’s Accounting & Reporting team. The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities comprise of various aspects within accounting operations, including the monthly and quarterly close and the preparation of consolidated financial statements. To be able to accomplish this, the Senior Accountant should be a highly organized and proactive individual with a strong attention to detail, and a solid understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. The Senior Accountant should enjoy working in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Prepare accounting documentation such as journal entries and account reconciliations for certain accounting areas of the monthly and quarterly close process Ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation that supports journal entries and account reconciliations to create and maintain an audit trail Perform analytical procedures to explain developments and trends Collaborate cross-functionally with other groups within the organization to ensure that accounting-relevant information is shared and processed in a timely manner, including, but not limited to, information regarding accruals Assist with the quarterly reviews and annual audit, conducted under PCAOB requirements, by interacting directly with the Company’s auditors as needed Assist the Accounting & Reporting leadership in maintaining an effective control environment (SOX 404) by creating, maintaining, and providing documentation to support the procedures to test design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting Assist with special or ad-hoc projects as well as other accounting & reporting related matters as necessary

Qualification Requirements:

BS in Accounting, CPA license a plus 5+ years of relevant and progressive experience, thereof at least 2 years of experience in an accounting and financial reporting team, preferably in the life sciences industry, preferably of a public company Working knowledge of GAAP and accounting pronouncements Working knowledge of SOX Strong organizational skills with a great deal of attention to detail and meeting deadlines Strong Microsoft Office skills Experience with, and working knowledge of, both ERP and other financial reporting systems Collaborative and consultative team player who can thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
