Senior Accountant - Technical Accounting

Provide other accounting and finance team members technical advice.
Draft the technical accounting policy and accounting memo.
Implement process improvements in the area of technical accounting, including updating and creating new accounting policies, as well as implementation of new US GAAP accounting guidance.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Draft and assist in implementing accounting policies under US GAAP and related internal controls (e.g., review controls, processes, and thresholds). Work with corporate and cost accounting, FPA, and other stakeholders to manage the governance and adherence to Medline’s accounting policies, standards, and related controls.Perform accounting research for complex transactions, e.g. business combination, VIE, restructure, goodwill impairment, equity and stock based compensation, IFRS/US GAAP conversion, income statement classification, fair value measurement, tax provision and other areas as needed. Draft accounting memos for triggering events, going concern and other complex accounting matters. Test goodwill and other assets for impairment. Support the ongoing review of significant contracts (e.g., revenue, divestitures, purchases, lending activities, etc.) and other accounting areas involving significant judgments/estimates by management.Support MA accounting, prepare monthly close data, journal entries, and account reconciliation for technical accounting areas. Provide periodic monthly and quarterly schedules (to support internal and external reporting), including footnotes to financial statements for certain technical accounting areas.Contribute to large-scale projects to implement process improvements and internal controls for financial reporting and technical accounting. Work cross functionally to manage change and enhance communications with stakeholders.Support new business initiatives, system integrations, and other major change management impacting financial statements and related systems. Liaise with corporate accounting and global reporting/consolidations as needed on technical accounting and financial reporting matters. Assist with the implementation of an external financial reporting tool.Represent Medline interests to internal and external parties through preparation of key deliverables - e.g., CFO and divisional leadership interactions, FPA/tax/treasury partnership, and presentations/schedules for leadership, sponsors, lenders, tax authorities, auditors, and other stakeholders.Prepare other ad hoc reporting, requests, and process improvements as needed in the course of business for technical accounting and reporting areas. Provide other supporting schedules as needed for tax or audit purposes.

Minimum Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or businessAt least 2 years of Corporate Accounting / Manufacturing Accounting experience.Experience applying GAAP knowledge.Advanced level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: using AVERAGE function, merging and centering cells, printing centered page and/or creating a pivot table).Able to work with large amounts of data.Preferred Job RequirementsMaster’s degree in Accounting or Finance.CPA strongly preferredAt least 3 years of accounting experience, at least 2 years focused on technical accounting.Experience at a public company with SEC reporting requirements (or public accounting experiences with listed clients).Experience at a multi-national manufacturer/distribution company.Experience at a large, global company with multiple legal entities and a complex consolidation structure.Experience applying advanced knowledge level of accounting practices, controls, and systems.Strong technical accounting acumen, with proven ability to perform complex accounting research and analysis.Experience with Sarbanes Oxley 404 internal controls implementation or governance.Experience working with a consolidation system (Oracle EPM, BPC).Experience executing change management.Experience leading projects and cross-functional collaboration.
