This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Archaeologist for our Shelton, CT office. The following locations will also be considered: Glastonbury, CT; Providence, RI; Boston, MA; and Chelmsford, MA. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment - Heritage and Cultural Resources Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges. 

Your Impact Proven track record of at least 5-7 years as a Project, Contract, and Client Manager in the context of Section 106/110 compliance throughout the Northeast and New England. Ability to supervise and lead professional teams of heritage staff.  Expertise in a defined archaeological subfield as evidenced by publications or presentations. Excellent technical writing skills and proven ability to provide QA/QC leadership for all aspects of project delivery. Passion for working in a collaborative team environment and the ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.  Ability to travel for projects. Proven track record upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.  Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work. Remain current in the latest archaeological methods, procedures, subject matter, and techniques. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are

Required Qualifications

Meets all Secretary of the Interior (SOI) qualification standards for archaeology. Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field; M.A./Ph.D. preferred. Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA). Proven track record of at least 5-7 years as a project/contract and client manager in a heritage and cultural resource management context throughout the Northeast and New England. Ability to supervise and lead professional teams of heritage staff. Expertise in a defined archaeological subfield, evidenced by publications or presentations. Excellent technical writing skills and proven ability to provide QA/QC leadership for all aspects of project delivery. Passion for working in a collaborative team environment and the ability to communicate effectively to multiple audiences.  Ability to travel for projects. Preferred Qualifications:

Evidenced and active participation in professional practice organizations.  MA degree in Anthropology, historic preservation, or a related field; PhD. 5-7 years of professional and managerial experience in the heritage industry.
