The AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS) team shapes the digital transformation necessary for our treatments to positively impact patients’ lives. In the role of Senior Engineer – USMA Data Ecosystem, you’ll tackle complex challenges as you develop and diversify your professional experiences while helping others grow and develop their skills.
AbbVie’s Brand and Commercial Operations (BCo) BTS team works in partnership with AbbVie’s Digital Lab to transform and elevate the US Medical Affairs (USMA) capabilities through digital technology products. In this role, you will work as a technical delivery leader responsible for designing and developing the AbbVie USMA data product. To be successful, candidates must have developer/ engineering background, be able to lead and work with cross functional teams, and experience in programming languages like PySpark, Python, SnowPark, Informatica and SQL.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
• Understanding organization's vision, goals, strategies and aligning with department priorities appropriately, determining critical success factors, evaluating, and pursuing initiatives based on fit with strategies.
• Acting as domain expert with functional and business teams.
• Designing systems to meet current and future business needs and strategies.
• Leading multiple development teams and managing solutions for different analytical and operational needs for the business functions.
• Providing project status updates to leadership BTS team in prioritization, project strategies, managing portfolio by working with the program/project manager.
• Partnering with Commercial Data Lake and Enterprise BTS organizations to evaluate and establish data and analytics best practices and solutions related to data engineering and data visualization.
• Providing innovative solution ideas along with execution strategies to help drive business effectiveness.
• Managing the project teams, budget, expenses, and capital costs against the budget.
Qualifications
Experience that makes you a strong candidate for this role:
Required
• Bachelor's Degree with 7 year’s experience; Master's Degree with 6 year’s experience; PhD with 3 year’s experience.
• Proven experience designing and implementing solutions in modern data warehouses (like Snowflake, Redshift or Oracle) including data modeling, schema design, and performance optimization.
• Strong proficiency in relevant languages and databases (SQL, PySpark, Python, SnowPark etc.) for data manipulation, data storage and automation tasks.
• Solid understanding of ETL/ Orchestration tools (Informatica ETL (IICS and PowerCenter), AWS Glue, etc.
• Proven track record in project delivery involving business, functional and technical teams.
• Proven experience identifying strategies for risk mitigation to reduce or eliminate issues.
• Experience with leading teams, demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams towards task completion.
• Solid executive presence with excellent communication and presentation skills.
Beneficial
• Experience with Service Operations in a multi-sourced and multi-project environment.
• Experience with any Business Intelligence tools like QlikView, Qlik Sense, Power BI, Tableau, etc.
• Experience in Lifesciences commercial operations domain.
• BI/DW and Analytics experience will include one or more of the following roles: Senior Engineer, Product Owner, Data Delivery Lead, Data/ System Analyst, Data/ Reporting Architect, etc.
