Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Director to join our dynamic Accounting and Finance team. This role will be responsible for overseeing various accounting matters, managing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, and maintaining strong internal controls. The Senior Accounting Director will work closely with senior leadership to support decision-making, ensure compliance with accounting regulations, and drive the improvement of financial reporting processes.

Manage and mentor a team of accountants, providing guidance, training, and performance management; ensure the team adheres to deadlines, maintains high-quality work, and develops technical accounting skillsOversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)Prepare detailed variance analysis of financial results, identifying key trends and issuesCoordinate the monthly close process, ensuring all financial data is accurate and complete within established timelinesSupervise the general ledger (GL) function, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timelyReview and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing entriesAssist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, working closely with business leaders to align financial goalsMonitor budget performance and provide insights to leadership regarding financial trends and performanceEnsure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local financial regulationsDesign and implement internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets, ensuring proper segregation of duties and mitigating financial risksCoordinate external audits, providing auditors with necessary documentation and resolving any audit findingsAssist in the preparation of tax filings, including federal, state, and local returnsLead efforts to streamline and improve accounting processes and workflows for increased efficiencyIdentify opportunities for system enhancements and work with IT to implement solutions.Participate in special financial projects and initiatives as needed, including mergers and acquisitions, system implementations, and process reengineering Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; Master’s degree preferredCPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional certification10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial rolePublic accounting experience preferredStrong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standardsProven experience with financial statement preparation, variance analysis, and auditingPrevious experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skillsStrong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a teamExcellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple prioritiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsExceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
