Senior Engineer – Coastal Resilience/Waterfronts

Role description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join our Water Management team in the New York City area.  

This role sits within our Resilience Global Business Area. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. We are here to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of coastal resiliency/climate adaptation projects in the greater New York City area.  You will also assist with business development opportunities, including supporting proposals and developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders. Additional responsibilities include:

Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineers, planners, and scientists on projects that include coastal engineering, hydrology and hydraulics, flood risk management, and design. Collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to determine project scope, budget, and timeline, resulting in the successful execution and delivery of projects. Developing project plans and managing resources to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects Overseeing the technical aspects of projects and providing guidance to junior engineers and staff Traveling (up to 20%) for project site visits, client meetings, safety audits, general planning purposes or to oversee construction activities, depending on project staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural/Coastal Engineering or a related field 8 years of experience in infrastructure design and implementation Professional Engineer License, preferably in New York, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with the design and/or implementation of coastal resilience and/or waterfront projects in the New York City area Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead teams and manage resources Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both in-person and virtually Ability to work independently and as part of a team

The salary range for this position is $97,600 - $168,00.
