Collins Aerospace is looking for a Systems/Software Senior Engineering Manager to manage a multi-disciplined team in a fast-growing area. Secure Information Systems (SIS) is seeking a motivated leader to help grow a new and exciting secure system product line. This position will oversee a high-performing engineering team and will help manage engineering cost, schedule, and engineering execution of multiple program efforts, including IRAD, CRAD, and customer funded programs. The selected individual will be on the front end of an exciting new product line. It is a role that involves high team interaction and an onsite presence.  

This position is onsite in McKinney, TX. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

Lead a cross functional team of software and systems engineers creating new and exciting mission critical products for a fast-growing product line. 

Help create a collaborative team culture that drives predictable program performance to consistently meet business and customer commitments.  

Communicate effectively to a host of stakeholders across the technical spectrum, including customers, program management and senior leadership.  

Grow your skills as a leader working with an emerging technology for Collins Aerospace and the aerospace industry as a whole.   

Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across all IPTs, CPTs, and disciplines within the Programs. 

Ability to grow a team or teams significantly as the new product takes off. 

Manage all program engineering related activities across the product line, including familiarity with Earned Value, Agile development, and other advanced program metrics. 

Ability to lead across a highly multi-disciplinary role, requiring experience across all design engineering disciplines, technical supplier management, business development, and program leadership. 

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.

Business-related travel may be required. 

Qualifications / Experience Needed:

Typically requires 10 years of prior relevant experience.

Experience as a Lead Engineer (Systems or software), Program Chief Engineer, or Integrated Product Team Lead.

Experience in software, hardware, computer engineering or systems design, use-case development, operational analysis, integration, test and system qualification.

Phenomenal communicator with the ability to explain complex technical systems clearly in simple terms to mixed audiences. 

Strong Customer experiences focused on sales and margin expansion. 

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government Department of Defense (DoD) issued security clearance is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current/Active Security Clearance.

Factory establishment and production experience in microelectronics. 

Ability to facilitate and coordinate activities across multiple facilities and locations. 

Results-oriented work ethic and able to communicate effectively with senior leadership and other engineering disciplines. 

Capture effort coordination and developing proposals to obtain funding, spanning technical proposal development, work breakdown structures and cost estimation.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
