Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Environmental Scientist Senior, we'll count on you to

Lead environmental work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s life cycle (from development and initiation to close-out)Prepare, plan and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, and similar reports/documents Take responsibility for many aspects of a small project or a single aspect of a larger project or work independently on medium-size projectsDetermine the level of environmental analysis required for proposalsCoordinate workload through project execution and complete deliverables on budget and scheduleManage or collect project-related data, which may include research, constraints mapping, leading field surveys for threatened and endangered species and wetland delineations, map reviews, etc.Perform complex assignments, making independent decisions on problems and methodsAssist public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition and compliance Write or review environmental reportsCollaborate with project design teams, project managers, and other environmental and cultural resource experts to develop creative design and mitigation solutions for a wide variety of infrastructure projects in sensitive environmental areas.Work with project managers, accounting, GIS, operational and business leadership for periodic project reviewsPerform other task management related duties as needed

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or closely related field10 years technical and/or field experience preparing environmental documentsDemonstrated knowledge of the NEPA processExperience managing large, complex EIS documents for transportation, large facility, land management, or other infrastructure projectsTechnical expertise in the design, implementation, interpretation and presentation of data for environmental studies and investigations in specialized disciplineProficient with MS OfficeSelf-starter with excellent writing and communication skillsStrong conceptual, organizational, problem-solving and research abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStaff management experience beneficialAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, research, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skillsUSFWS Permit for various speciesExperience supervising staff, leading field teams, and preparing proposalsExperience in regulatory permit coordination and agency consultation (ex. USACE, USFWS, COA)
