Senior Lead Software Engineer

Job Description: 

Senior Lead Software Engineer positions offered by Cox Automotive Corporate Services, LLC (Sacramento, CA). Provide functional technical guidance and direction, project management, and mentorship to junior engineers who are responsible for writing and maintaining code within applications and systems and coordinate the implementation of capabilities and features and the improvement of performance and maintainability.  Define architectural standards, tools, and methodologies to ensure technical consistency and quality across the company’s functional applications.  Identify, adapt, and apply new technologies that can help improve systems overall.  Collaborate with senior members of development / functional departments across the company to share experiences and knowledge and to identify ways to simplify and integrate products.  Liaise with management on the development of software engineering governance / performance management processes.  Functionally lead efforts of junior engineers to provide input to story sizing, backlog grooming, and release planning, to perform troubleshooting and investigations when necessary, and to write software and automated tests that are in alignment with agreed-upon standards.

Minimum Requirements: 

Requires a bachelor’s or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 8 years of experience in the position offered or 8 years of experience engineering software.  In lieu of a bachelor’s degree in the aforementioned fields and 8 years of experience as stated, the employer will accept a master’s or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 6 years of experience as stated, or a Ph.D. or foreign equivalent degree in the aforementioned fields and 3 years of experience as stated.  Also requires 3 years of experience:  designing, developing, and implementing highly-scalable, high-volume software systems and components, client-facing web applications, and major Internet-oriented applications and systems; realizing applications from conception through design, and from implementation through support; following agile and iterative application life cycle methodologies; analyzing, designing, and programming software; coding within multiple technology stacks on both front-end and back-end; using Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate; working with database technology; and working with oAuth and identity providers.  Employee reports to office in Sacramento, CA.  Position may work from home, but must live within commuting distance of stated office.

Compensation includes a base salary of $197,003 to $284,200. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company’s needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members.
