Role description:

We are excited to be growing our teams and are currently recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Water & Utilities team. We are involved in some of the UK’s most complex and stimulating projects that are diverse and technically demanding. We have an enviable reputation in the delivery of such schemes and are working closely with some of the UK’s most established and recognisable utilities companies, undertaking a vast array of projects to enhance the UK’s utility services.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join our team to work on a variety of projects with our Utilities’ and other clients across the UK and Ireland. The role itself is positioned within our Resilience Global Business Area where we work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we’re feeling the effects climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we’re seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Role accountabilities:

Reporting to the Principal Engineer or Associate Technical Director, this is a role that will be responsible for the project design output of their engineering discipline, for managing the technical delivery of project, and client technical oversite to meet budget, time-frame and quality targets, meeting or exceeding client expectations, promoting and marketing all facets of Arcadis' services during interfaces with clients and other sectors and disciplines, contributing towards the achievement of the divisional business plan and building networks within the industry.

Ability to work independently and as a team member carrying out production and checking complex mechanical detailed designs including calculations, specifications, reports, and drawings. Supporting and / or Leading design and advisory services relating to new and existing water and wastewater process plants, pumping stations and ancillary assets. Technical delivery of multi-disciplinary projects, in a Design Lead capacity where assigned, using latest digital design techniques. Identify and develop innovative and optimised technical solutions based on client needs and drivers Lead and co-ordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (e.g., process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and ICA) Establish and grow relationships with clients and capital alliance partners on project technical, commercial and progress matters Ensuring projects meet required technical, legislative, quality, safety and environmental standards and objectives. Line management and performance development responsibility for assigned staff

Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Mechanical Engineering or other directly related degree Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status and membership of a professional institution such as IMechE, IET, or CIWEM  Significant experience in technical delivery of process plant systems on complex water industry engineering projects Experience of working on design and construct projects using digital design Team leader with collaborative behaviours Desired: Water and/or wastewater experience
