Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Appliance

The Basics

As a Tanium Senior Software Engineer - Kubernetes Appliance, you will be tasked with building and maintaining best-of-breed products as part of a small and nimble development team. Tanium focuses on a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginning. When new products ideas are identified, our software engineers are responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying the products from the ground up, while continuously iterating with product management and customers for feedback and input.

What you’ll do

Build and maintain Tanium Appliance, a customized Linux operating system running on bare metal, that hosts Tanium software in on-prem and cloud customer environments Design and implement a framework for running and managing Kubernetes containers on an array of these appliances Work as part of a fast-paced agile development team with a deep commitment towards a strong customer engagement model and feedback process to ensure our products are designed the right way from the beginning Design, develop and test new product ideas from the ground up while working with product management for feedback and input

We’re looking for someone with

Education Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience CS Degree or related technical field preferred Experience 4-7+ years industry experience Intimate familiarity with Linux and shell scripting and prior programming experience with a compiled language (preferably Golang) Prior experience of working with Kubernetes and associated container deployment technologies Experience with modern software engineering development and automation tools like git, GHA and Jenkins Experience designing and building high-performance, secure, scalable, observable, supportable, and maintainable backend services and APIs Other Demonstrate sound judgment for balancing between rapid development and long-term code maintainability and supportability Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills – being able to learn what the requirements are and apply them Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams Commitment to writing automated tests as an integral part of the development process Knowledge of a variety of modern backend software frameworks and the versatility to learn new tools and language
