ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Structural Bridge Engineer | Hybrid

 

VHB is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the established and growing Structures group in our VT offices. We are a dynamic, vibrant, and innovative team on the cutting edge with model-based bridge design. Join us and be part of delivering interesting and challenging bridge projects in Vermont and New England. There is an option for someone to work from another VHB office to support VT projects, if meeting all qualifications.

Responsibilities

Provide training, mentoring and direction for team members in all aspects of design and project development for bridge/transportation structuresLead the scoping, design, plan preparation and Contract document preparation for bridge and transportation structure projectsPrepare proposals and contractsDevelop trusted client relationships Provide independent review and Qc/Qa of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses Serve as Project Manager including scheduling and budget

Skills and Attributes

Extensive knowledge of structural engineering conceptsExcellent communicator in verbal presentations and technical writingTeam oriented along with ability to work independentlyRobust technical and critical thinking skillsLeadership and project management skillsMotivated to train and mentor staffExperience with the use of structural engineering software Bentley OpenBridge and OpenRoads experience is a strong plus

Qualifications

11+ years of professional experience in structural bridge designBS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred) (1 year of experience may be substituted for a master's degree)PE license requiredExperience completing transportation studies, final design documents and developing contract plansIndependent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete)
