The New York City Mayor’s Office is responsible for overseeing city services throughout the five
boroughs, coordinating public agencies and departments, and managing public property. New York

The Team You’ll Work With
The Mayor’s Office MIS Department is responsible for all aspects of technology for the agency. This
includes end-user desktop support, VOIP, network infrastructure, messaging, email, file, web, and
database servers, and server virtualization. MIS collaborates with other city agencies to implement
wireless policies and procedures and develop secure tools/applications for use by multiple agencies.
MIS also partners with other departments in the Mayor’s Office to develop tools and applications that
streamline processes, measure performance/metrics, and increase productivity.
The Problems You’ll Solve
The Server Administrator has the responsibility of supporting services for server infrastructure. You
play a major role in ensuring smooth operation, engineering, maintenance, and troubleshooting of
server systems. You will work collaboratively with all IT support teams to provide effective and
efficient support and resolution on a wide variety of issues, as well as interfacing with and assisting the
various business units in automating and streamlining workflow and daily operations.
You will be part of a team of server support administrators, with the responsibility of installing,
configuring, and supporting Windows-based physical and virtual servers.
- In emergencies, Borough Directors are on the scene to represent the Mayor’s Office.
Emergencies include but are not limited to blackouts, tragic deaths, and high-profile crimes, responsible for the management and maintenance of the enterprise server infrastructure. This
involves planning, deploying, configuring, and optimizing server systems to anticipate or meet
customer requirements.
- Manage the resolution of server-related issues, including but not limited to hardware failures,
software glitches, network connectivity problems, and service availability issues. You will work
closely with various IT support teams to provide timely and effective solutions, ensuring minimal
downtime and disruption to the various Mayor’s Office’s public service operations.
- Responsible and may work collaboratively with NYC Citywide Cyber Security in ensuring server
systems security against potential threats, vulnerabilities, and unauthorized access by
establishing and enforcing security policies, conducting regular audits, and implementing
appropriate security measures to protect sensitive data and comply with NYC Citywide
Cybersecurity regulations.
- Serve as the administrator of existing on-prem and Microsoft O365 tenants, Azure Active
Directory, and Exchange Online.
- A contact for dealing with mission-critical issues with vendors, including the NYC Office of
Technology and Innovation, for support and service to ensure effective communication, timely
support, and resolution of technical issues.
- You will ensure documentation, including but not limited to server configurations, procedures,
and troubleshooting guidelines, is always kept up to date.
About You
- You are adaptable and open to learning new skills and technologies.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of IT experience with 3 years of experience with Microsoft
O365: Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and other O365 workloads, as well as Microsoft
Azure Information Protection (AIP), Azure Active Directory, and Azure Active Directory
Federation Service (ADFS).
- You have experience with the following technologies but not limited to: On-prem Exchange
management, operating systems (Windows & Linux), file systems, Active Directory, LDAP,
SMB/Samba, IDS/IPS, VPN, Firewalls, Wireless networks, Routers, Network Security, etc.
- You have experience with backup strategies including CommVault.
- You have experience with SCCM.
- You have experience working with mobile management technologies (e.g., Workspace One,
Intune).
- You have experience in a SQL /.NET environment: MySQL and SQL Server are a plus.
- You have Power BI and SQL analytics experience.
- You can efficiently and effectively analyze complex server-related issues, make data-driven
decisions, and plan for future server infrastructure requirements.
- You can maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of server configurations,
procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- You have strong project management skills to plan and execute server-related projects, such as
server upgrades or migrations.
- You have effective communication skills to collaborate with other IT teams, convey technical
information to non-technical stakeholders, and provide timely updates on server-related
activities.
- You have strong time management skills to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle
multiple projects simultaneously.
- You can demonstrate analytical, investigative, problem-solving, and tenacity to work to the
resolution of difficult tasks.
- You can handle several areas of focus, new applications, and processes quickly.
- You can work after business hours and on weekends for projects if needed.
- You can work collaboratively within a team environment of other system administrators and
work independently to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards.
- You can multi-task between multiple projects.
- You have strong PowerShell skills.

Qualifications
1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university?
2. Do you have an associate degree from an accredited college or university along with two (2) years of experience with administrative, analytic, coordinative, supervisory or liaison responsibilities?
3. Do you have a four-year high school diploma, or its educational equivalent approved by a state's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization along with four (4) years of experience as described in question "2" above?
4. Do you have a satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to that described in questions "1," "2," and/or "3" above?

Salary Min: $105,000.00
Salary Max: $120,000.00
