To be eligible for work during the summer, if not enrolled, you must have been enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours during the prior spring semester and must be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours for the upcoming fall semester. The successful candidate must have excellent organization and time-management skills, strong written and verbal communication, work with minimal supervision, be collaborative, and have proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Some background in student affairs or higher education is preferred. Nature and Purpose of Position:
Provide support in assisting and enhancing the activities of the Student Government Association (SGA) at Sam Houston State University (SHSU). This position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated and meticulous graduate student to contribute to the development and success of student government initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with SGA advisor and executive board providing administrative and organizational support to ensure the efficient functioning of the SGA program.

Primary Responsibilities: Provide administrative support and assist with daily administrative tasks of SGA. Manage correspondence, emails, and phone calls, ensuring timely responses and follow-ups.Assist with Blackboard and website maintenance. Provide support with event coordination to including collaborating with SGA members to plan and execute events, meetings, and activities. Assist in coordination, including room reservations, catering, and coordination of event materials. Assist DOSO administrative coordinator to approve and purchase event needs within the budgeted department guidelines. Assist with communication and outreach to both internal and external constituents. Support communication efforts by drafting newsletters, announcements, and social media updates. Assist in the creation and distribution of promotional materials for SGA initiatives, including marketing events through internal and external communication platforms. Submit monthly reports on activities to DOS for VPSA cabinet reports. Serve as a liaison between SGA and members of the SHSU community. Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with SGA e-board, directors, and caucus chairs. Review materials for SGA meetings, including agendas, presentations, and documentation. Attend all SGA e-board, senate, and internal affairs meetings. Assist with Student Advisory Board preparation.
Other Requirements for the Position Must be able to strictly follow written and oral instructions and work a modified schedule to accommodate office needs. This position requires contact with faculty, staff, students, and persons outside of the university. Must be organized and maintain student confidentiality. This position requires to work a minimum of 15-20 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate SGA events and activities. The specific schedule will be determined in consultation with SGA leadership and Dean of Students.
